Effective August 2, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a contract between you and Homeroom for Family, LLC ("homeroom," "we," "us"), a limited liability company registered in North Carolina, with a business address at 3540 Toringdon Way, Suite 200, Charlotte, NC 28277. They govern your use of the homeroom web app and any related mobile apps (the "Service").
By creating a homeroom account, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Subscription & Billing Terms, which are part of this agreement.
You must be 18 or older to create a homeroom account. By creating an account, you represent that you are 18 or older and that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.
homeroom is designed for adults to manage a household. Other household members — including children — do not create their own accounts. They access the Service only through an invite link shared by the person who created the household account (the "Account Holder"), and only to view and complete tasks assigned to them.
Adults sign in using a "magic link" sent to their email address — there is no password to remember or lose. Children and other household members added by the Account Holder sign in, if at all, through an invite link, which issues an anonymous session token to their device; they never create a separate account or provide their own email address.
You are responsible for keeping your email account secure, since it is the way you sign in to homeroom. Notify us promptly at support@homeroomforfamily.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
This is the part of these Terms that makes homeroom different from a single-user app, so please read it carefully.
3.1 You're responsible for what you enter about others. When you add a household member — a spouse or partner, a child, a roommate, or a guest — you represent that you have the authority to enter information about that person, and you are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter.
3.2 The Account Holder is in control. homeroom takes instructions about a household's account and data only from the Account Holder — the person who created the household. Other household members can use the app as the Account Holder configures it (for example, completing tasks), but they do not have independent authority to change account settings, billing, or other members' information unless the Account Holder gives them that access within the app.
3.3 Correcting or removing a household member's information. If a household member wants their information corrected or removed and is not the Account Holder, they should ask the Account Holder. If they contact us directly, we will refer the request to the Account Holder rather than acting on it ourselves, except where we are legally required to act otherwise.
3.4 Departing members. If a household member leaves the household — a guest moves out, an older child no longer wants to be tracked in the app — the Account Holder can remove that member from within the app at any time.
3.5 Disputes over an account (including separation or divorce). homeroom is not able to referee disputes between adults who both consider themselves entitled to control a household's account — for example, during a separation or divorce. Absent a court order or other legal document directing us otherwise, we will continue to treat the person who originally created the account, or who currently controls its sign-in email address, as the Account Holder.
3.6 Children turning 18 or "aging out." A child's profile is managed by the Account Holder for as long as the Account Holder chooses to keep it in the household. homeroom does not have a special process today for a child "graduating" into their own account; if that becomes a real feature, this section will be updated to describe it.
homeroom is a paid subscription service. Pricing, free trial terms, billing, auto-renewal, cancellation, and refunds are governed by our Subscription & Billing Terms, which are incorporated into these Terms by reference.
You agree not to:
• Use homeroom for any illegal purpose, or to enter information about someone in a way that harasses, threatens, or violates their legal rights.
• Attempt to access another household's data, or to circumvent the household separation built into the Service.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service, or probe, test, or scan it for vulnerabilities without our prior written permission.
• Use the Service to collect or store information about a child other than your own household members, or in a way inconsistent with the Children's Privacy section of our Privacy Policy.
• Resell, sublicense, or provide commercial access to the Service to others without our written consent.
We may suspend or terminate an account that violates this section, consistent with Section 9 (Termination).
"Your Content" means the information you or your household members enter into homeroom — tasks, calendar events, meal plans, "Wins," grocery items, and similar entries.
You (or, for information about other household members, the Account Holder on their behalf) own Your Content. You grant homeroom a limited license to host, store, and display Your Content solely to provide the Service to your household. We do not use Your Content to train third-party advertising products, sell it, or share it except as described in our Privacy Policy.
homeroom, our logo, and the software underlying the Service are owned by Homeroom for Family, LLC and protected by intellectual property law. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our trademarks, branding, or software except as needed to use the Service as intended.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." homeroom is a household coordination tool, not a safety, medical, legal, or emergency service, and should not be relied on as one. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost, and we do not represent a specific level of security beyond what is described in our Privacy Policy.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers, so some of the above may not apply to you.
By you. You can cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe billing portal linked from your account settings. See Subscription & Billing Terms for what happens to billing and your data when you cancel.
By us. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms (including Section 5, Acceptable Use), if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service, in which case we will provide reasonable notice where practical.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, and 12) will survive.
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
• homeroom, its founder, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.
• Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) $100.
This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory the claim is based on, and even if we have been advised of the possibility of the damages.
Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (for example, liability for gross negligence, fraud, or willful misconduct in jurisdictions that do not permit limiting such liability, or consumer-protection rights that cannot be waived).
You agree to indemnify and hold homeroom harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your breach of these Terms; (b) Your Content, including information you enter about another household member without authority to do so; or (c) your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Any dispute arising out of these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. Before filing a claim, we ask that you first contact us at support@homeroomforfamily.com so we can try to resolve the issue informally.
homeroom is directed to parents and adult household managers, not to children. See the Children's Privacy section of our Privacy Policy for details on what information is (and is not) collected in connection with children.
We may update these Terms as homeroom changes. If we make a material change, we will provide notice — for example, by email or an in-app notice — before the change takes effect for existing subscribers.
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Subscription & Billing Terms, are the entire agreement between you and homeroom regarding the Service.
Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Force majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
