Privacy Policy

Effective August 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Homeroom for Family, LLC ("homeroom," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information through the homeroom web app and any related mobile apps (together, the "Service").

homeroom is registered in North Carolina, with a business address at 3540 Toringdon Way, Suite 200, Charlotte, NC 28277.

If you have questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@homeroomforfamily.com.

1. Who This Service Is For

homeroom is built for adults managing a household — coordinating schedules, chores, meals, groceries, and similar day-to-day logistics for the people they live with. Every account is created and controlled by an adult (the "Account Holder"). Children and other household members do not create their own accounts; they are added by the Account Holder and interact with the Service only by tapping to view or complete tasks, using a link the Account Holder shares with them.

The Service is currently offered only to residents of the United States. We do not currently market to, or knowingly offer accounts to, users outside the United States.

You must be 18 or older to create a homeroom account. See our Terms of Service for the full age and eligibility requirements.

2. Children’s Privacy — Read This Section Carefully

homeroom is directed to parents and other adults who manage a household — not to children. This section explains, specifically, how children’s information is handled.

Children do not create accounts. There is no sign-up flow for children. A child never provides an email address, never sets a password, and never fills out a registration form.

Only adults enter information about children. When an Account Holder adds a household member who is a child, the Account Holder — not the child — types in a first name or nickname, picks a color, and may flag that member as a "kid." The Account Holder also assigns tasks, chores, and calendar events to that child, and records when tasks are completed. None of this information is submitted by the child.

How a child interacts with homeroom. An Account Holder can share an invite link with a child so the child can open homeroom on a household device and see their own tasks. When a child opens that link, homeroom issues an anonymous session token to that device — a technical code that lets the device show that child’s tasks and let them tap "done." This token is not tied to an email address, a password, or any other information that identifies the child. The child is never asked to type anything about themselves.

No advertising or tracking aimed at children. homeroom does not show ads to anyone, does not use advertising identifiers, and does not track behavior for advertising purposes — this is true for every user of the Service, including children. See Section 6 below.

Parents control and can delete children’s information. The Account Holder can edit or remove a child’s profile, name, tasks, or history at any time from within the app. An Account Holder can also permanently delete the entire household — including everything entered about a child — from Settings inside the app, or by contacting us at privacy@homeroomforfamily.com.

Questions from parents. If you are a parent or guardian and have questions about information collected about your child, or want it corrected or removed, contact us at privacy@homeroomforfamily.com.

3. Information We Collect

From the Account Holder (the adult who signs up)

• Email address — the only identifying information we collect directly from you. We use it to send your magic sign-in link and account-related emails.

• Household name and time zone.

• Payment details — collected and held by our payment processor, Stripe. homeroom never receives or stores your card number. See Section 5.

Entered by the Account Holder, about household members

The Account Holder types in the following, describing the people (and pets) in the household:

• First names or nicknames, an assigned color, and flags indicating whether a member is a cook, a kid, or a pet.

• Tasks and chores assigned to household members, and a history of when tasks were completed.

• Calendar events, including dates, times, and any free-text notes the Account Holder adds.

• Meal plans and which household member is assigned to cook.

• Free-text "Wins" — short descriptions of household members’ achievements that the Account Holder chooses to log.

• Grocery list items.

• Home service providers used by the household and the dates of their visits.

• Optional household information for the handoff sheet — a wifi password, an entry code, house rules, and the names and numbers of people who can help. Optional per-person notes about routines, such as bedtimes and food preferences.

Collected automatically

• Session tokens that keep you (or a household member using a shared device) signed in, including the anonymous session tokens described in Section 2.

• Standard server logs generated by our hosting providers (for example, timestamps and error logs) as a normal part of running a web application.

• Two pieces of information stored in your browser’s local storage on your device: a key called homeroom-me, which remembers which household member a given device belongs to, and the authentication session token issued by our database provider, Supabase, which keeps you signed in. Both are strictly functional and are not used to track you across other sites or apps.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect, and have deliberately designed homeroom not to need:

• Dates of birth, home addresses, or phone numbers.

• Photos, video, or audio.

• Precise geolocation.

• Biometric data.

• Health information. There is no field for allergies, medications, or medical conditions anywhere in homeroom. If a household wants a sitter to know something medical, the handoff sheet lets them add it at the moment they print — that note is never saved to our systems or transmitted anywhere.

• Advertising identifiers or any data used for behavioral advertising.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

• Operate the Service — showing your household’s schedule, chores, meal plan, and grocery list, and letting members mark tasks complete.

• Authenticate you — sending magic sign-in links and maintaining sign-in sessions.

• Communicate with you about your account — billing notices, security notices, and responses to support requests.

• Process payments through Stripe.

• Maintain and secure the Service, including diagnosing technical problems using server logs.

• Send marketing email (such as product updates) to people who have signed up to receive it, through our marketing email tool, Kit — kept separate from the household data described above.

We do not use household members’ information (including children’s information) to build advertising profiles, and we do not use it for any purpose beyond running the Service for your household.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell or rent your information, or any household member’s information, to anyone. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We share information only with the service providers ("subprocessors") that help us run homeroom, each acting on our instructions and only for the purpose described:

• Supabase — database (Postgres) hosting and authentication, US-East region. Processes all household data described in Section 3 and manages sign-in sessions.

• Vercel — application hosting. Serves the homeroom web app; standard hosting server logs.

• Resend — transactional email. Sends magic sign-in link emails only; no marketing email.

• Stripe — payment processing. Handles your payment details; homeroom never receives your card number.

• Kit — marketing email. Marketing email addresses and campaign activity, kept separate from product and household data.

• Cloudflare — DNS. Routes traffic to our website and app.

• Google (Places API) — address suggestions. When someone types a location for an event, that partial text is sent through our servers to look up matching addresses. No information about who is typing, or which household they belong to, is included, and we do not store anything beyond the address the person chooses to save on their event.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of homeroom, our users, or others.

If homeroom is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, household information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy or a policy at least as protective.

6. Advertising and Tracking — What We Don’t Do

• No advertising SDKs of any kind.

• No advertising identifiers (such as mobile ad IDs).

• No behavioral tracking or ad targeting, for any user, including children.

• No third-party analytics tools. As of this policy’s effective date, homeroom does not use Google Analytics, Vercel Analytics, Plausible, or any other analytics or tracking script.

• No tracking pixels.

The only browser storage we use is the strictly functional local storage described in Section 3.

7. How We Store and Protect Information

Your household’s data is stored in the United States, in a Postgres database hosted by Supabase (US-East region).

We use technical access controls at the database level — specifically, Postgres Row Level Security — so that one household’s data is not visible to another household using the same underlying database. Access to your data within the app is limited to the members of your household, as configured by the Account Holder.

No method of storing or transmitting information is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We describe our safeguards accurately and do not claim a level of protection that we cannot verify.

8. How Long We Keep Information

We keep your household’s information for as long as your account is active, so the Service keeps working the way you expect.

If you cancel your subscription, we do not automatically delete your household’s data — this is deliberate, so that returning families don’t lose their history.

You can permanently delete everything yourself at any time from Settings → Delete household inside the app. You can also email us at privacy@homeroomforfamily.com and we will complete the deletion within 7 business days.

Some information necessarily persists briefly after deletion: our payment processor retains transaction records as required for tax and fraud-prevention purposes, and routine server logs and database backups expire on our providers’ standard schedules.

9. Your Choices and Rights

Access and correction. The Account Holder can view and edit almost all household information directly within the app.

A copy of your data. The Account Holder can download a complete copy of the household’s data at any time from Settings → Download your data, in either JSON or spreadsheet format.

Deletion. The Account Holder can permanently delete the household from Settings → Delete household, or email privacy@homeroomforfamily.com and we will complete the request within 7 business days.

Marketing email. You can unsubscribe from marketing email at any time using the link in those emails.

State-specific privacy rights. Some states — including California, Virginia, Colorado, and Connecticut — give residents additional rights over their personal information, such as the right to know, delete, or correct it, and rights related to the sale or sharing of information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and homeroom does not currently meet the size or revenue thresholds that trigger most of these laws. Regardless of whether these laws apply to us, the access, export, correction, and deletion tools described above are available to every household.

10. The Household Model — How Multi-User Data Works

homeroom is built around a single Account Holder who invites other household members. A few things follow from that:

• By entering information about another household member — a spouse, a child, a guest, or anyone else — the Account Holder represents that they have the authority to do so and is responsible for the accuracy of what they enter.

• homeroom takes instructions about a household’s data from the Account Holder on that account. If a household member wants their information corrected or removed, they should ask the Account Holder, or contact us and we will work with the Account Holder to resolve it.

• If a household member leaves the household, the Account Holder can remove that member from the app, and can reset the household’s invite link so older links no longer work.

• We are not able to arbitrate disputes between household members — for example, during a separation or divorce — over who controls an account. Our Terms of Service describe how we handle these situations.

11. International Users

The Service is currently offered only to United States residents, and we do not intend to transfer information outside the United States. If this changes, this policy will be updated to describe any international transfer safeguards before international users are accepted.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as homeroom changes. If we make a material change, we will provide notice — for example, by emailing the Account Holder or posting a notice in the app — before the change takes effect.
